    OBXtek is currently staffing for a Senior Systems Programmer to support SSA's DIET division with Migration of Programmatic Systems Software.



    The Division of Integration and Environmental Testing (DIET) is responsible for final integration testing and the release to production of all of SSA’s application code.

    DIET’s Software Migration and Implementation Branch (SMIB) is responsible for the migration of SSA application code to support the backend legacy system as well as the front-end Java code for the SSA intranet and Internet applications. SMIB maintains all the code in support of the two integration-testing environments. These environments are mirror images of each other. There are weekly scheduled maintenance releases and movement of newly introduced code to multiple environments. These changes, updates, and upgrades are performed to modify or update one or more of the software platforms maintained by the Mainframe Migration Team (MMT) and the WebSphere Migration Team (WMT): DB2, Integrated Database Management System (IDMS), Customer Information Control System (CICS), WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and Windows .NET. These software platforms integrate e-business applications over a multi-platform computing system using industry standard web technologies.


    The contractor will work with DIET to continue the implementation of automating the testing infrastructure and assist with the configuration management and software distribution solution at SSA. Currently, SSA maintains an integrated testing environment that supports all of the mainframe legacy and SSA intranet and Internet applications. This is a constantly evolving environment. SSA is transitioning all of the WAS applications on the Sun Solaris platform to the newly implemented LINUX and WAS z/OS platforms.


    Scope of Task

    The objective of this task is to implement and troubleshoot mainframe, WebSphere, LINUX, and .NET based activities.


    In support of the task, the contractor shall perform activities such as those described in the sub-task below.


    Sub-Task 1: Migration of Programmatic and Systems Software Support


    Purpose:  Deploy programmatic and systems software.


    In accordance with SSA application software release schedules, WAS z/OS conversion schedule, and WAS Sun Solaris application installs:

    • Develop, analyze, and maintain JCL. This is a daily/ongoing activity.
      • Deploy application code from the Enterprise Software engineering Facility (ESEF) validation environment to the Programmatic Processing Facility (PPF), Management Information Services Facility (MISF), High Availability Facility (IHAF), High Availability Facility (HAF), and the Windows Development and Production Environment (WDPE), in integration, training, and production environments. This is a daily/ongoing activity that may take as little as 30 minutes or as long as several days depending upon whether the code consists of maintenance changes or is newly developed code.
      • Perform DB2 binds and implement CICS and IDMS changes on the z/OS mainframe operating system. This is a daily/ongoing activity.
      • Manage Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF), Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) files and utilize IBM utilities to create and update JCL procedures in support of the migration, restructuring, and maintenance of data including the file integrity of all data. This is a sporadic duty done on an as needed basis.
      • Independently install and maintain Hierarchical File System (HFS) and Zettabyte File System (ZFS) for UNIX System Services file storage systems. This is required on an as needed basis.
      • Independently install and maintain JAVA application code and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) code on the Sun Solaris platform. This is a daily/ongoing activity.
      • Update and configure WebSphere MQ application code. This is a daily/ongoing activity.
      • Perform Dialog Manager, CLIST, and JCL updates to support daily and weekly software migration activities. This activity is required on an as needed basis.
      • Independently install, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows .net deployments and installs. This is a new process and is required on an as needed basis, but the workload will continue to increase.
      • Update and maintain the component’s SharePoint Site (maintaining most recent work procedures and production documents, and updating work requests). This activity is sporadic and required as needed.
      • Document and update the migration and installation of the application code when requested via the Online Software Release Form (OSRF), an OSO/DIET software audit tool. This is a daily/ongoing activity.
      • The contractor shall document details of migration and installation application code for the various OSO SDLC environments.
      • The contractor shall participate in Dev/Ops meetings to help develop continuous migration and testing strategies.
      • Perform migration activities consistent with AGILE Dev/Ops methodologies. 



    • The contractor shall upload migration and installation documentation to the DIET/SMIB SharePoint site or email it to the Task Manager upon successful implementation.
    • The contractor shall report problems and issues with any implementation, migration, deployment, or update of software or code to the Task Manager via email within 24 hours or less of discovery.

    Experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, UNIX scripts and commands, WebSphere Administration, familiarity with CICS and DB2, Windows environment, file handling.
