    OBXtek is currently staffing for a Senior Subject Matter Expert to provide systems programming support to install, administer, customize, and troubleshoot the CICS architecture by developing, modifying and installing CICS systems software programs and application software. This task will provide support during the disaster recovery exercise and building shutdowns.


    CICS Software Development and Maintenance

    • Meet with SSA analysts, management and end-users to develop requirements.
    • Analyze high-level requirements and produce detailed design documents and flow charts.
    • Provide a project plan and schedule on software development and maintenance efforts, as mutually determined by SSA Task Manager and contractor.
    • Develop comprehensive test plans to ensure validation of functional requirements and proper integration testing.
    • Test systems programs in PRSM/Development environment.
    • Develop and maintain CICS systems level and application software programs and exits using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Assembler Language Code (ALC) or Java.
    • Perform life cycle management and coordination of software changes across SSA Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Deploy completed software into the life cycle using SSA change management procedures furnished by the Task Manager.
    • Develop and maintain documentation on CICS systems and application software programs.

    Create New or Modify Existing CICS Architectures

    • Create new CICS regions and establish appropriate Resource Definition Online (RDO) definitions in support of application requirements for Integration, Integration 2, Training, Acceptance, and Production life cycles in accordance with SSA’s CICS region building standards furnished by the Task Manager within the specified planned life cycle deployment timeline.
    • Submit region configurations and all associated JCL, PARM, and RDO changes, via official change form process, on the lifecycle processing to Task Manager.
    • Develop a CICS configuration document.
    • Develop all application release-related documentation after a production release.

    Problem Management and Production Support

    • Develop and implement capabilities to monitor the CICS production environment for problems and generate automated alerts.
    • Provide 24x7 pager support to resolve CICS related problems when they occur.  
    • Provide technical expertise on CICS application and configuration related issues.
    • Troubleshoot CICS systems, configuration and application problems, and facilitate the necessary actions required to correct the problem.
    • Communicate with designated SSA personnel on conference calls and email concerning the details of the issue, expected resolution, and root cause analysis.
    • Support efforts to restore processing during a “disaster recovery exercise” or an actual disaster at either the SSC or NCC.
    • In troubleshooting problems, communicate the details of the issue, expected resolution, and status of the root cause analysis,
    • Document the problem resolutions, which shall include the complete root cause analysis in SSA’s problem tracking system- the Change Asset Problem Reporting System (CAPRS).

    CICS and Third Party Software Installation and Maintenance

    • Research compatibility between CICS and third party vendor software.
    • Research compatibility between z/OS, Top Secret, IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), & IBM WebSphere MQ software in relationship to CICS and third party vendor products.
    • Establish and document a test plan.
    • Test all software and maintenance in the PRSM/Development environment after coordinating test activities with application development staff and external partners.
    • Provide a project plan and schedule to upgrade CICS and third party vendor software as mutually determined by SSA Task Manager and the contractor.
    • Install and customize CICS software and third party vendor software using System Modification Product/Extended (SMP/E) across SSA SDLC.
    • Apply maintenance to CICS software and third party vendor software using SMP/E across SSA SDLC.
    • Install and support IBM’s CTG – CICS Transaction Gateway software.
    • Install and support IBM’s CICS Interdependency Analyzer software.
    • Install and support IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE and IBM’s Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) for CICS.
    • Install and support CICS Abend-AID and Abend-Aid for DB2.
    • Install and support CICSPlex Systems Manager.
    • Install and support BMC 3270 Super Optimizer for CICS.
    • Update configuration documentation reflecting new software versions.
    • Install and support WebServices for CICS.
